One of them lost her husband, daughter and grandchild during the tsunami. Such loss yet still all of them were able to smile! Only God can bring that kind of peace."

When I zoom out from the details in the photo and take it all in, I am reminded of the "enormity" of God. He is SO BIG and yet I am so small. I love that He has made himself and continues to make himself small to reach...me."

Her statement is so simple and almost a paradox with the enormity of the loss she must have experienced. The strength that she found in God to mourn, endure, and move forward in the loss of her husband, reminds me of the "peace that surpasses understanding" that only God can supply."

She has a deep passion for Jesus, and has shared with me many times that she has turned to Him to get through trials. She has contributed to my Korean heritage and my love of kimchi! She is an amazing woman, and I pray that I will continue to grow to be more like her each day."

I had family that were interned at Manzanar during the war and I have learned so much from them about perseverance and facing adversity. This picture reminds me of God's faithfulness and to always persevere when faced with trial. James 1:2-3 says, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." "
